For the past few years, our corner of the internet was a small, self-funded product studio called Femur Labs, living quietly at femur.io.
When we started Femur, we made a conscious decision to opt out of the usual startup routine. We didn’t want to chase one massive, all-or-nothing idea, and we didn’t want to spend our days pitching for outside money. Instead, we treated software like a craft. We placed a series of small, deliberate bets. We built things quickly, put them into the hands of real people, kept what proved useful, and gracefully let go of what didn't. We paid our own way, stayed small by design, and built a profitable studio on our own terms.
Over that time, we shipped six products. Watching people all over the world weave our software into their daily routines, relying on tools we sketched out from scratch, has been the greatest privilege of our work.
If you used anything we built over the years, thank you. Truly. You gave us the freedom to experiment, to learn in public, and to build a livelihood doing what we love. Those products are now retired, but we don't believe in making things vanish overnight. Each one keeps an archived copy of its site, online as a permanent record of the work and the community around it.
Why Atidus
Today, we are closing the Femur Labs chapter. Femur Labs becomes Atidus, at atidus.com.
A good name shouldn't just sound nice. It should act as a compass. Atidus holds two meanings that capture how we try to show up every day. In Hebrew, atid (עתיד) means "future." In Lithuanian, atidus means attentive, careful and observant.
Put those two ideas together and you get how we work: patient about the long run, and careful with the details right in front of us. We want to build for the future without ever rushing past the craft required today.
Opening the studio doors
Beneath the new name, our core rhythm isn't changing. We will keep taking small, thoughtful bets on our own products.
What is new is that we are no longer building alone. For the first time, we are opening the studio to founders.
We know firsthand how lonely and overwhelming the very beginning of a company can be. The industry often frames starting a company as a high-stakes gamble: raise a lot, hire fast, and hope you find product-market fit before the money runs out. We don't believe building software has to be a gamble. There is a calmer, more deliberate way to get from zero to one, because we’ve lived it.
If you are a founder at the very earliest stage, with a sharp insight, a rough prototype, or just a problem you can't stop thinking about, we want to build the product with you.
When we partner with a founder, you don’t get a slide deck of advice. You get our actual studio:
Building. We write the code alongside you, using the tools and infrastructure we’ve refined over years of shipping.
Connections. We open our network to help you find your first real users, your first critical hires, and your earliest design partners.
Small checks. For some founders, we will also write a small angel check, often the very first money in.
To be clear: we are not a venture fund, and a check from us never replaces the work. We are builders first. The capital is there to give you breathing room while we build the thing together.
